The world
needs people with enterprising spirits
By: Néstor Colombo
We need today, more than ever before, men and women that are
entrepreneurs, that say “no” to the pride of life, are hungry for
God, believe that in Christ everything is possible, and submit to
His authority.
How do these kinds of
people come to be? It is said that some people are born with this
talent. But if this were true, then the enterprising spirit could
not be taught, developed, or acquired.
The truth of the matter
is that this kind of spirit can be developed, but not by following
methods or techniques. The enterprising spirit does not depend on
human rules or methodology, but rather it depends on a kind of
attitude that submits all things to the wisdom of God. Entrepreneurs
are different because where others see impossibilities they see
possibilities. They seek to be different, first, by overcoming
mistakes and failures; second, by obeying the voice of their
Creator; and third, by freeing themselves of their prejudices.
By its definition,
innovation is not subject to rules. It is the dawning of something
new. God is, by excellence, the ultimate innovator.
Our countries need
truthful and honest citizens that are an example to those in
authority. They need men and women that do not dwell on the past,
but instead look forward to the future with an enterprising spirit,
seeking to serve others. The world needs men and women who look at
things that are not, as though they already were.
Because of their
excellent spirit, enterprising people can inspire others to achieve
goals that benefit their fellow men and themselves. They will not
allow themselves to be exalted by others or to exalt others above
measure. They do not seek to please themselves, but to please the
Lord. They are not dependent on the world, but on their fellowship
with God.
We need to make known to
everyone the examples of enterprising men and women who sacrificed
themselves and "by faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of
righteousness, obtained promises. . . from weakness were made
strong, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight."
(Heb. 11:33-34)
We need to make it our
goal to rid ourselves of our negative attitudes and learn from men
like Paul who said, "for in no respect was I inferior to the most
eminent apostles, even though I am a nobody." (2 Cor. 12:11)
He learned that the grace of God is sufficient and that God’s power
is made perfect in weakness.
We need to put into
practice the potential our Creator has endowed us with to imagine,
invent, discover, design, and undertake; taking time to be in
communion with God, freeing ourselves of bad habits and systems of
belief that keep the enterprising spirit that God has given us from
developing.
To be successful in our
enterprises, it is necessary that an excellent spirit, vision for
the future, and desire to help one another be found in all of us. |
